Syke’n’Sugarstarr :::Biography:::

Syke’n’Sugarstarr are somewhat of an enigma, finely balanced between cool club work and absolutely rocking remixes, pushing back the boundaries on their own label, whilst becoming in demand house-producers for external projects looking for that extra special something they can offer. But – not to forget – they’re one of todays most in demand House-DJs as well. Playing gigs all over the globe. From NYC to Sydney. From Bogota to Moscow. From Miami back to Europe.

After touring massively for two years, they are finally back in the studio to put their hands on loads of new tracks. While releasing remixes for David Vendetta, Milk&Sugar, Michael Canitrot, Hardsoul, Raul Rincon, etc. Syke’n’Sugarstarr recently collaborated with DBN and Vocalist Cosmo Klein, and the result is the tune “My Belief”, out on WePlayRec., which currently earns huge respect and support by the top dogs in the housemusic-scene.

One of their biggest coups out of their studios is a stunning team-up with the legendary CeCe Rogers, one of the true greats of soulful music. Syke’n’Sugarstarr were delighted to get CeCe on board to re-present “No Love Lost” all over again on their 2008 version. This tune has become a worldwide anthem getting on heavy rotation on the radio and in the clubs.

How did Syke’n’Sugarstarr make their mark on the Housemusic scene?

They have actually been working together in the house music biz since the late nineties as producers and DJs, and have been responsible for some absolutely enormous club hits.

Late 2004 saw the release of their first longplayer, the aptly named 'Best Of Syke'n' Sugarstarr'. A decidedly neat little compilation featuring their most prominent works to date. Amongst them, big tunes such as “Ticket 2 Ride” and “Release Your Mind”, which enjoyed worldwide release, further cementing the guys’ reputation as premier producers.

2006 kicked off with their single entitled "Are you watching me, watching you?" featuring vocals by Alexandra Prince, who previously sang on Gadjo's hit "So many times" and which was also co-produced by Serhat, the one half of S’n’S. This one was followed up by single releases such as “Can’t Stop”, “Danz” or “Toda A Minha Vida”. With their side-project SE:SA, headed by producer-honcho Serhat Sakin, they had a big smash-hit called “Like This Like That” (feat. Sharon Phillips), signed to Positva Rec. and 20 other territories, while reaching top positions in all charts.

Producing their own tracks is just one part of their operation, however. An impressive list of production and remix credits which includes such renowned artists as Armand van Helden, Barbara Tucker, David Vendetta, Mousse T, Incognito, D.O.N.S, Gadjo or Hardsoul is testimony to their skills in the studio. Recognition of their expertise is reinforced by the breadth of record labels that Syke’n’Sugarstarr have worked with, ranging from majors such as Universal, at one end of the spectrum, right through to cutting edge dance labels like Ministry Of Sound, Defected, Swing City, Subliminal, Southern Fried, Peppermint Jam and Kontor Records, not forgetting the boys’ own 'Do The Hip Recordings' imprint.

The most appealing aspect of Syke 'n' Sugarstarr is just how fresh they sound, both in their productions and their DJ'ing, which, as anyone who has seen them on the decks will know, is as diverse and experimental as their studio work. The best way to describe them would probably be as musical pioneers, which, in this age of copyists and covers merchants,  is exactly what the world needs right now.
